"Laura Kaye kicks the hammer into overdrive with a tour de force of ultra-94 octane production paralleled by magnificent and emotional rock vocals. Precise electric violin orchestration courtesy of string-guru hubby Mark Wood boosts this work into the creme de la creme of classic rock. Backed by a wish-list of rhythm-section and support personnel, Laura elevates these tracks to the next plateau. "Shake Off The Gravity" creates the template by which other compositions should be judged. If Joplin were alive, she'd be contacting her attorney!"

Not one but TWO features about Laura in the July 2006 issue of Northeast IN-TUNE!!
First, as the featured artist in "Women in Music," here's a snippet:
"From the Aerosmith tribute spread on Laura Kaye’s website, one might take her as a wannabe-Steven Tyler or groupie with musical delusions. Perish the thought! Laura Kaye is a mature, self-aware artist projecting no voice but her own."
--Stephane Crosby, Northeast In-Tune

Second, here's an excerpt from the review of "Shake Off the Gravity" in the Music section:
"Laura’s lyrical content is original and well composed. She surely has a way with words. Best of all, she also has the talent to structure great music around those lyrics to develop appealing songs that live on in your head long after the song has stopped playing."

"Blistering rhythm guitar, combined with a hotly-harmonic electric violin and driving rhythm section open up this jewel of a CD. While the opening vocal of "Cloudless Sky" leaves no doubt that Ms. Kaye is a vocalist to be reckoned with, it only hints at what's ahead - you like strong female singers? Step right up - there's a package here with your name on it."

"...That´s where female rock princess Laura Kaye comes in, yes I call her a princess coz at the same time she´s singing with a strength of a dozen horses - her voice is also very elegant not to mention the feel she´s got....my thoughts go directly to a mix between Janis Joplin and Joyce Kennedy of Mothers Finest."

"Wow.
That about says it all. What an amazing CD.
You're singing your ass off girlfriend. Ann Wilson, Sass Jordan, Tyler, Plant, Marriot--it's all there. Fucking beautiful.
The songs, the choice of covers, the production, the mix, the perfomances--it's all there.
You should be proud...I would be."

"Now this CD smokes and this little girl can wail! Move over Steven Tyler! Total rock effort here folks with the likes of Violinist Mark Wood, Guitarist Al Petrelli, and also from Widowmaker Joe Franco on drums helping Laura out! The material rocks with 11 strong tunes. Laura is like this little timebomb ready to go off! I'd really like to see her perform and maybe if the scene here improves we can get her down here from NY."

"I love listening for influences in artists..and then finding it to be exactly what I hear. With self-proclaimed music hero’s like Steven Tyler and Patti Labelle, David Bowie and Robert Plant given proper space in her dedications…I wasn’t disappointed in my ears. (Though I didn’t expect to see John Lennon). Well..add Laura Kaye to that mix of influences…and you’ve got…. Laura Kaye. Incredible! What a female addition to the rock world she is and I can only imagine the live show being even better : ) "

"Hello - this girl can sing. I’m not talking about just hitting all the right notes, now. I’m talking about unforgettable punches that leave you awestruck. And I’m not the only one who’s noticed. Her touring band, The Laura Kaye Band, was featured on WAPP FM’s “New York’s Best Bands” album (the same series that helped discover Bon Jovi and Twisted Sister). And Laura Kaye is, quite frankly, hard to ignore. With an over-the-top, rock ‘n’ roll Queen “look” happening (that matches her over-the-top, powerhouse vocals akin to Steven Tyler and Aretha Franklin), it’s hard not to listen to Laura Kaye. Although Kaye maintains a rock edge vocally throughout her most recent release Shake Off the Gravity, there are times when some Gwen Stefani-ish sugar seeps through and some Heart “Baracuda”-like moments. Shake Off sends listeners into cosmic boundaries – rock heavens where Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin rule - with a blend of Kaye originals like “Get On Board” and “Complicated World” (her response to September 11th) and classic covers from some of rock’s greatest empires. One of the album’s unique elements is Mark Wood’s Viper electric violin, a one-of-the-kind instrument, that produces complimentary tones and effects to Kayes voice. You don’t have to like chick rock to enjoy Laura Kaye - you just have to love rock!"
